CAEP Senior V.P. Mark LaCelle-Peterson to Join 萌妹社鈥檚 Leadership Team July 1
(June 20, 2014, Washington, D.C.) – 萌妹社 President and CEO Sharon P. Robinson, Ed.D., announced today that Mark LaCelle-Peterson, Ed.D., senior vice president of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), will join 萌妹社鈥檚 staff as vice president for policy and programs July 1.
鈥淲e are delighted to welcome Mark to 萌妹社,鈥 Robinson said. 鈥淗e knows the work of our membership very well, and we are eager to bring his expertise to the Association鈥檚 programs.鈥
LaCelle-Peterson will provide strategic and operational leadership for 萌妹社鈥檚 Policy and Programs Department. The position is a member of the senior management team that is instrumental in developing and executing the overall strategic goals of the Association. Managing a team consisting of staff and consultants, LaCelle-Peterson will provide program and policy leadership and will develop high-level activities to showcase and support the work of the Association.
Among other initiatives in LaCelle-Peterson鈥檚 portfolio are 萌妹社鈥檚 inaugural , the newly assembled and efforts related to and other emerging educator performance assessments. He also will oversee the Association鈥檚 2014 legislative priorities including educator preparation-related appropriations, reauthorization of the Higher Education Act and advancing the profession鈥檚 agenda on federal regulations affecting teacher preparation.
In his current position at CAEP, LaCelle-Peterson directs core operations including programmatic accreditation, license-level program review, state and member relations, meetings and events, human resources and administration. He also works closely with state policy makers and institutions to develop effective collaboration across sectors in accreditation processes.
Prior to the formation of CAEP, LaCelle-Peterson served as president of the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC), which he joined as a staff auditor in 2008 before becoming vice president in 2009 and president in 2011. He was a key member of the joint TEAC/NCATE design team that spearheaded the development of CAEP.
LaCelle-Peterson previously served as a researcher, faculty member and administrator in educator preparation programs in New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Minnesota and his Ed.M. and Ed.D. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
