Mitigating Learning Loss: Leveraging Teacher Candidates as Assets During COVID-19

This webisode will highlight a recently released brief and discuss ways teacher candidates can be leveraged as assets to support teachers during this unprecedented time. Jacqueline Rodriguez of the ÃÈÃÃÉç and Loretta Mason-Williams of Bingham University will present. Additionally, Lindsey Decker, teacher candidate, Boston Public Schools and Boston University; Min Jen Taylor, Principal, Boston Public Schools; Ellie Friedland, Program Supervisor, Boston Public Schools and Clinical Associate Professor, Boston University; and Davena Jackson, Assistant Professor, Boston University will serve as panelists and share their perspective on the following questions:

  • How can using teacher candidates be a win-win for both educator preparation programs and districts?
  • In what ways can teacher candidates be leveraged to support teachers in addressing student learning loss?
  • What role can state, district, and educator preparation program leaders play in leveraging existing partnerships to come together to solve existing challenges?
