(March 1, 2016, Washington, D.C.) – Today Dr. Jane Bray, dean of the Darden College of Education at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., becomes the new chair of the ÃÈÃÃÉç (ÃÈÃÃÉç) Board of Directors. During her one-year term as chair, Bray will lead the Board in developing new policies and programs and will serve as spokesperson for the Association.

“This is a thrilling time to be in this profession,” said Bray. “I could not be more excited to have been elected to this most important position in ÃÈÃÃÉç, and I am anxious to support and extend the work of our highly competent Board of Directors.”

Bray joined the ÃÈÃÃÉç Board in 2013 as a representative of the Advisory Council for State Representatives, a coalition of leaders from ÃÈÃÃÉç’s state chapters. The current chair, past chair and chair-elect of the Council serve on the ÃÈÃÃÉç Board, bringing state-level perspectives to the national body. Bray just completed her term as past chair of the Council.

“Our profession is truly at a tipping point, and the Board of Directors at ÃÈÃÃÉç is at the forefront of our profession,” said Bray. “To be moving into this position as the chair of ÃÈÃÃÉç is humbling and exhilarating at the same time.”

Bray has served as dean at Old Dominion University for the past three years and previously was dean of the School of Education at Millersville University of Pennsylvania for 13 years. She received her doctorate degree from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
